Township Trustee Races Full of Controversy

(Toledo, OH) Township trustee races are crowded in Lucas County because of controversy.

There are six candidates running for two trustee seats in Spencer Township, where one of the incumbents was temporarily removed from office by his two colleagues for being stationed overseas on military duty. That prompted a lot of people to cry foul and a state regulator to reinstate him.

Two incumbent Sylvania Township trustees are facing heavy opposition from three other candidates, including a former township trustee who claims the current trustees are corrupt. Jerusalem Township also has four candidates for two available seats.

Two challengers that filed to run for Swanton Township trustee withdrew in late September in a petition signature dispute, leaving the two incumbents in that race.
