An influx of online purchases this holiday season is testing the limits of package delivery companies like UPS and FedEx, despite big investments in warehouses and seasonal employees.
In fact, UPS is still struggling to recruit enough seasonal help in Northwest Ohio, even putting out a public call for applicants earlier this week. UPS has warned some deliveries would be delayed by a day or two, while employees work extended hours to manage the record rush, up five percent to 750 million packages this holiday season.
Amazon is also experiencing a delay crunch, only expected to get worse as Christmas approaches. Americans spent a record $6.59 billion dollars on Cyber Monday alone.
