Toledo, BG to Hold Memorial Day Parades Monday

(Toledo, OH) A Toledo tradition will step off downtown on Memorial Day.

The Toledo-Lucas County Memorial Day Association is keeping the annual remembrance alive, with yet another parade that starts at 10 a.m. Monday and marches down Summit Street. The parade goes past a reviewing stand in front of One Government Center, the same place the parade kicks with the singing of the national anthem.

Lieutenant Commander Tony Migliorini of the U.S. Coast Guard will serve as this year’s parade grand marshal. 25 to 30 military units and at least six high school bands are expected to march in this year's parade, which ends at the Civic Center Mall with a memorial service to commemorate those who gave their lives in service to our country. The county's collection of war memorials is scattered across that downtown greenspace.

Bowling Green plans a Memorial Day parade and remembrance ceremony Monday in honor of fallen veterans. The parade will begin Monday at 10 a.m., with a stop at the Wood County Courthouse to lay wreaths.

The parade will end at Oak Grove Cemetery where the ceremony will take place immediately afterward.
