Firefighter Re-indicted on Teen Sex Charges

(Bowling Green, OH) A former Wood County firefighter faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted of new teen sex charges.

A Wood County grand jury this week re-indicted former Troy Township firefighter Jay Caldwell on multiple counts related to an investigation into sex acts with children.

The indictments stem from allegations Caldwell used his position with the fire department and an Explorer post to force students to engage in sex acts. This time, Caldwell faces felony counts of complicity to rape, complicity to sexual battery, kidnapping, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Prosecutors emphasize the teens are victims and did nothing wrong, despite the corruption charge against Caldwell. Charges were dismissed earlier this year, but new evidence came to light to go back to the grand jury.
