Judge to Decide Dispute Among Rossford Officials

(Rossford, OH) A Wood County judge likely will have to decide a fight between Rossford's school board and city officials.

The issue is whether Rossford city administrators can force the board of education to follow city zoning code and land-use laws in new school construction. The dispute stems from new sidewalks city leaders are trying to force the Rossford school board to install around the new Glenwood Elementary School to be built at state route 795 and Lime City Road-- that would cost an extra $200,000 not in the construction budget.

The school board claims city zoning code doesn't require them, but the city law director says the city can force a property owner to install the sidewalks.

The case is now before Wood County judge Alan Mayberry for a declaratory judgment.
