So Livability put out a list of the top five minor league sports cities in the country and guess who came in at number one!? If you read the title of this post, you already know, but in case you missed it, it was of course Toledo. The long history and success of the Toledo Mud Hens contributed to this honor along with the opening of 5/3 in downtown that arguably started the revitalization of the downtown Toledo area and now Hensville is a cornerstone of the downtown entertainment district.
That is cool and all, but I am not much of a baseball fan although I have the utmost respect for the history and success of the Mud Hens. Hockey is more my speed and the Toledo Walleye, along with the long hockey tradition in Toledo with the Storm and Goaldiggers, has also factored in to making Toledo the number one minor league sports city in the U.S.
Too bad that Arena Football League thing fell through about ten years ago or we could have had the Bullfrogs as well!
